Patrick Jeurissen, PhD, is full professor in fiscal sustainable health care systems at Radboud University Medical School and Senior Research Officer of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports in the Netherlands. Patrick Jeurissen is an expert on the design and implementation of policies that specifically address issues of sustainability and affordability in health care. He has (co)-authored some 75 peer-reviewed publications, including a recent book on hospitals at Palgrave. Patrick is a sought for speaker on (international forums.

Patrick represents the Dutch government at OECD, where he also chairs the Working Party on patient-reported outcomes (PaRIS). He has been a consultant for WHO, for the EU, and for the governments of Switzerland, Austria and Finland. His major interests concern strategic policymaking, health care finance and cost-containment policies, hospitals, for-profit providers and payers, mental healthcare, solidarity in health care systems, and comparative health care system research. He holds a Ph.D. in health economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. His dissertation covers for-profit hospital ownership in the US, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
