Jeonghoon Ahn, PhD

Dr. Jeonghoon Ahn is an associate professor at the Ewha Womans University (EWU) and an adjunct fellow at the National Evidence-based healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA). His research fields include 1) economic evaluation of health technologies; 2) health policy impacts; 3) health resource prioritization; and others. Before joining the EWU in 2016, Dr. Ahn was an executive director of NECA and assistant professor of pharmaceutical economics and Policy at the University of Southern California (USC). He received his B.A. (1992) and M.A. (1994) from the Seoul National University and Ph.D. in Economics (2000, Health Econometrics) from the USC. At the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, he did postdoctoral training (supervisor = C. Daniel Mullins) on pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research sponsored by the Drug Information Association (DIA). Dr. Ahn is currently serving in the Drug Reimbursement Evaluation Committee of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Agency (HIRA). He was elected as board director for HTAi (2014-2017) and INAHTA (2012-3, 2014-5, 2016-7). Dr. Ahn also had served many professional organizations such as ISPOR Asia Consortium chair-elect (2020-2) and a past president of ISPOR Korea Chapter, the chair of research committee of Korean Association of Health Technology Assessment (KAHTA), and the auditor of Korean Association of Health Economics and Policy (KAHEP). Dr. Ahn also contributed to form a regional Health Technology Assessment agency network, the HTAsiaLink, along with other experts in the region.
