Dr. Weech-Maldonado is Professor and L.R. Jordan Endowed Chair in the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also currently Co-Director of the Center for Health Organization and Transformation (CHOT) funded by the National Science Foundation, and Analysis Core Director of the UAB Resource Center on Minority Aging Research (RCMAR) funded by the National Institute on Aging. He is also Senior Scientist of the UAB’s Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE) and the Center for Comprehensive Healthy Aging (CCHA). He has expertise in organizational theory, long-term care, and the measurement of cultural competency and patient experience.
After receiving his Ph.D. from Temple University in 1998, Dr. Weech-Maldonado assumed faculty appointments at the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Florida, prior to joining the UAB faculty in 2008.
His extensive research activities have been funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institute on Aging, National Science Foundation, National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and the Commonwealth Fund.
