Associate Professor Christine Dennis joined Flinders University in July 2019 teaching in the health care management domestic and offshore programs. Prior to this Christine worked for 5 years as the Chief Executive Officer, Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and ACHS International.

Trained as a Registered Nurse / Midwife, Christine has worked in the Australian health care system for over 35 years. Practising clinically for the first 20 years, the past 15 plus years have included senior roles in policy and planning, health system operations and, in Chief Operating Officer/Chief Executive Officer roles in both South Australia and the Northern Territory.

She has led multifaceted change, safety and quality improvement programs aimed at raising organisational performance, and integrating service delivery across healthcare systems.

Prior to her full-time appointment with Flinders University, Christine was also an invited lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Tasmania (Sydney Campus) and in 2017 was appointed as the Chief Examiner (Australia) for the Australasian College of Health Service Management Fellowship Program.

She has tertiary qualifications in nursing and health service management; has a Doctorate of Business (University of South Australia) and is a Fellow and Life Member of the Australasian College of Health Service Management.

Her doctoral thesis was titled ‘The Problematic Nature of Strategic Planning in the Public Health System’.
