%X Prof. Shinichi Takamoto ( Figure 1 ) is Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo and till June, 2018 has been the CEO of Mitsui Memorial Hospital, a leading general hospital in Tokyo devoted to the betterment of society as a whole by offering medical services in a spirit of respect, comradeship and care. In the interview, Prof. Takamoto has shared with us his perspectives in “role and mission of the medical doctors”, his professional experience as a doctor and a manager of the hospital and shown his passion and philosophy for the medical career.
